Some interesting numbers from history.
Civil War (1861-1865) over 970,000 casualties (over 23,000 at the battle of antietam alone, still the record). And also on another side note, there was a notable Civil War battle in Colorado: The Sand Creek Massacre
WWI (1917-18) 116,516 deaths
WWII (1941-46) 405,339 deaths
Vietnam (1964-73) 58,209 deaths
Gulf War (1990-91) 382 deaths
